Michael Floyd 5* WR commits to ND

By some miracle on Sunday, we managed to get 5* Wide Receiver Michael Floyd to verbally commit to Notre Dame for the '08 recruiting team. I'm amazed. I truly am. One of the worst feelings watching the Irish crash and burn last Saturday was knowing that all of the big time recruits were sitting right there in the stands seeing it firsthand. It put an awful feeling feeling in the pit of my stomach.

When I heard this and my mouth dropped. Esp since he was (verbally) choosing Notre Dame over Florida, USC, Ohio State, and Minnesota. In a 1-7 season, this is something to actually smile about. Thank goodness, it's about time.

video highlights:

“Yeah, I committed this weekend,” Michael Floyd said as we spoke to him as he was boarding his plane home from his official visit to Notre Dame this weekend.

“It feels real good knowing that I have a school now,” he said. “I’m going to help them bring this back and I’m going to get a great degree.”

Weis is a master of recruiting great talent, it's what he can do with them on the field that will show his real talent.

That is very true. I think he's learned some lessons this season and I have a feeling this off-season will be VERY different from the last.

Another recruit verbally commited yesterday but I don't have the info on hand.

Another commit from Nebraska; offensive lineman Trevor Robinson of Elkhorn, Neb committed Dec 15.

The 6-foot-6, 305-pound Robinson originally committed to Nebraska, but re-opened his recruitment near the end of the summer. He looked at Michigan and Notre Dame, along with the Huskers.

While all three teams failed to meet expectations this season, Notre Dame stood as the most stable. Michigan has yet to name a successor for the retired Lloyd Carr and Nebraska fired Bill Callahan at the end of the season, recently replacing him with Bo Pelini.

"(He) excels as both a run and pass blocker, and I think he can play right away," said CSTV recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, who had Robinson ranked as the No. 67 player nationally in his preseason top-100 list. "He's a tough, blue-collar kid, what Notre Dame needs."

Robinson will enroll in January.
