I never really thought Ohio would be in the top five. But I also never really thought about best HighSchool teams and what state they are in until now.

Clearly California has the most talent, with 226 current NFL players having played their HS football in that state. Long Beach Poly Tech High has the most NFL players of any high school.

There is also a very large difference in population vs the smaller states. Cally, Florida and Texas win this argument every time, but pound for pound I will take Ohio.

Too single one State as the best is almost impossible cause everyone produces diffrent things Cali is really good with Linemen and Runners cuase we are Heavier set I was myself a MLB and a Wide reciver. I could play a little Punt Returns (20 Returned my Freshman year). But we have a good portion of Runers and Lineman in Cali. So u want those come to Cali

Those are some very prestigious programs. Texas football is great but i'd take California's big dogs, slightly, De La Salle, Matre Dei, Long beach Poli Tech, Oaks Christian, Lincoln(San Diego)

Granted, those programs are some of the best in the Nation - there's no debate there... but in California you have surfing, skiing, mountain climbing and all sorts of other distractions... in Texas there is ONLY football... hell I had never even heard of Rugby or Lacrose till I was a Senior in High School...

I think that the culture and history of Texas Football is greater then Californias and gives it the leg up

If I read the question correctly, this isn't about who produces the best College players, or the best Pro-players, it's about where the best HIGH SCHOOL football is, and there's nothing like going to a game in Texas, no matter who's playing

I see your point and i will concede that football is bigger in Texas. Hey whats the capacity of some of your guys bigger HS stadiums? your point on surfing skiing and the likes is well taken, Football at all levels in Califonia is not real big on spectators agenda USC, Cal, Stanford and UCLA never sellout.

Last week I read in a New York Times Blurb that California boasts the most players in the NFL by state...Ohio was included in the Top 4 with Texas and Florida in as well...I can't remember the order after CAL...And I doubt I could find the article...

You have got to admit though Ohio has the best college in the Nation for sure..there High school is also ranked #1 so you have to thing about that and say "hey #1 in HS and College they must have some athletes" and i get to go play them on Friday!

Per Capita recruites

Florida, Texas and California have a built in advantage since they are all sunny and warm and have huge populations. If you look at college recruits per capita, I'll bet that Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama are right at the top.
