Pressure on High Schoolers

Probably not the ideal place to post this but I am a worried mom of a high school football athlete in a competitive program. I can't believe the pressures he faces! And the star treatment? Obnoxious! I would be interesting in chatting about it, how you deal with it as an athelete or from the persepctive from a parant or coach. He'll probably see this post and kill me for it but the other parents seem so gung ho without reservation. On yahoo.

this isnt the place to put this thread, go to the off topic forum, I am also a high school football player, and you just have to deal with it, they coachs will call, the will want to come to your house, the whole 9 yards, but your just gonna have to deal with it.

MS I disagree I think this topic is great for this section, but no big deal.

Now to the post, I really think you have to keep up with everything that is going on his life concerning football. Make sure he is not making mistakes that will cost him in the long run. Every high school athelete should look at sports as a way to have fun and to build character. When those few players and I mean few become good enough that other high schools and colleges take notice well then you have a diamond in the rough. I am not sure if your son is that good or not, for your sake I hope he his. The most important thing that I would advice is to make sure he keeps up with his class work, that football carrer could end on any day, and 50% of the time it does. Just make sure that you and your family have fun with it. Just remember it is a game and it is meant to be fun there job is the classroom.
