Seattle Seahawks Want some opinions

We just had a heart breaker happen to our local high school football team Friday night. Our team was the heavy under dog, and was totally dominating the other team and had the momentum with 4 min. left in the game, up by 10. The other team did a "Fumble Rooskie?" where the center handed to the quarterback who pretended to fumble it and the center kept it and handed it to a lineman who ran for a touchdown. Is this legal in high school football today? Alot of questions being ask about the legality of this. Our team was just shocked and then they did a on side kick and got it back and ran for another touchdown, which we shouldn't have let them do, but where do you go if you question the legality of a play like that? We're in North Idaho. The kids are in shock and broken hearted.

That is a real bummer, and I will try to findout if the play is legal. But I do know that it always takes high schools years to change rules that have been changed in college and the NFL. Do you guys have anymore games left? Tell the kids to keep there heads up, they gave a that team all they could handle.

Well this is what I found out.

The fumblerooski was made illegal as of this year. The organization whose rules we as officilas follow come from the NFHS, or National Federation of High Schools. I think the actual name is National Federation of State High School Associations. I believe all but two states adhere to their policies.

Hope this helps, I would look for a site for the NFHS as stated above and see if Idaho adopted the new rule concerning the fumble rooskie.

Thanks you guys

Yah, it was the state playoff game. End of season. We had seniors so stunned and devisatated they couldn't come out of the locker room and wouldn't take their unies off for along time after the game, knowing that was it. You can learn alot from a loss to though, but boy, not that way! I think the problem being is not that its illegal, because we think it is in the state of Idaho, but that the refs didn't call it illegal. They are the ones that dropped the ball. The kids left their hearts on that field. It has been the same team against us the last two years to see who goes to state, and they are forming quiet a rivalry, which brings up another question. Do others of you in other states have a problem competeing against private Catholic or (other religions) highschools, who have better funding when you are a public high school? Here in Idaho, it is getting to be difficult.

San Diego Chargers

I am I fomer Highs school football player who lost his sr season to a knee injure. I am very proud of the way your team was able to dominate and almost put away a favored team. I am shocked that the fumble play is still allowed there if it is.

We had a similar bout when a student transfred to our school and wanted to play and he was under restricion and the other team didnt inform us. and they were favored to beat us by 35 pts at least. we fought our hearts out and forced them to OverTime and the we scored 1st and they scored but in a improbale play we manged to block the extra point and win the game. out of all this they used the Illegal player to cancel out the game. but we filled with the league and they gave us credit. But when we got canceld we were torn apart. I hope they Overturn your Bad play call

I think that it conditions Public teams better cuz our schooled played a buch of Private school and won many but also lost some it was great cuz when we played n leauge we were ready for anything good luck

Sorry to hear about your heartbreaker. I think most states have a problem with the religious/private schools, here in Oregon the dominant program is Jesuit(catholic) in California it's De La Salle (catholic) in the north, and Oaks Christian to the south.

Where in norhtern Idaho are you? I'm interested in Lake City HS in Coeur D' Alene are they favored to win state? My Ducks signed the 2 best players from there.

We're in Sandpoint and LakeCity will most probably win state. They are a very strong group of seniors. They just beat Coeurd'Alene to see who went on to state by a score of 48-7. We are the league below them in size, but we play them and they are good. The school that did this to us two years in a row (last year beating us in the final minutes by 1 point) is Bishop Kelly out of Boise. They ahve won state the last three years. It hurts knowing that could have been you

I am sorry about the teams loss. It sounds like they played a very heartfelt game and to lose to a play that might not even be allowed is terrible. Are they saying anything about overturning the call? If this play is allowed in your state I think they should really rethink there ruling on this type of play.

The coach has sent it in for review at the state and national level, but the fact that it wasn't called then is the problem. there is no instant replay in h.s. football.
