Whos the #1 Pick in FantasyFootball?
I've seen any of the big 3 go #1.. Which one you think will have the most productive fantasy year?
L. Johnson L. Tomlinson S. Alexander .. If I had the #1 I'd probably go with L. Tomlinson. He's the safest pick IMO, since Alexander lost his big G (Steve Hutchinson). All should have good years, but I'd take Tomlinson personally. |

Never have I seen every single #1 potential pick have possible issues as this year. L. Johnson (loses 2 major O-linemen) L. Tomlinson (loses star QB) S. Alexander (loses 1 major O-linemen) I prefer pick #3 so I can be left with whoever is left of the 3 as I have no preference. |

Alexander.
Even if he only manages 75% of last year's production, that still makes him the best player on the board. While LT and LJ remain top-3 studs, they have more concerns around them than losing a starting guard. -LT lost Brees. Rivers has to prove himself in order for defenses to respect the passing game. -LJ lost BOTH starting tackles AND his FB. Plus, LJ has less of a track record than the other guys. My list: 1) Alexander 2) Tomlinson 3) Johnson |

Everybody's made good points, but I think more reasonable expected numbers for Alexander would be 1500 yds and 16tds. That's about what he's averaged over the last 4 years.
Also when Priest and Emmitt posted huge TD numbers neither came remotely close to following that up the following year (Granted Priest got hurt). I like Alexander the least of the 3. Even in non-ppr leagues Tomlinson only trailed Alexander by about 15 points last season and Alexander broke the friggin TD record.

SA has 1958 combined yards and 28 TDs. LT had 1832 yards with another 47 passing and 23 TDs with 3 of them passing. Now, both are studs and worth picking 1st overall, but I can't see how you could be down on SA. He has never produced less than 1600 yards or 16 TDs since becoming the starter. Plus, while SA lost a guard (albeit a great one), LT lost his starting QB. Unless you are much higher on Rivers than I am, I can't see that as a positive. More to a point, you premise is that when a star RB posts huge TD numbers, they never repeat. Well, shouldn't that hold true for LT as well? He notched a career-high last year, he too must be headed down. Last edited by JCD : 08-10-2006 at 11:17 PM. |
