Week 1 I have Jeremy Shockey vs. Indianapolis or L.J.Smith @ Houston. I would go with Shockey, but projected stats have L.J. with more points for this week.
Advice??? |

Thats a tough one.
I would think L.J. Smith would have a good day against a weak Houston "D". He should get a lot of looks being it's Stallworth first game in a Philly uniform and L.J. Smith is a returning player. McNabb doesn't seem to have a whole lot of options to throw the ball to other than Smith,Westbrook and Stallworth at this point. From what I gather Brown had a terrible per-season leaving the Eagles with no choice but to go out and get another WR. |

i go with jeremy shockey. i see a lot of "O" in that game, and for eli to outperform his older bro, he will need to work shockey. lj vs hou is a good play too, but i see mcnasty chunky soup spreading the ball around with brown, stallworth, and westbrook a little more than eli will. its like 60-40 in favor of shock-diggity to me.

I think Eli will be looking for Shockey Alot in Sunday night's game. The Colts will definitely be putting the pressure on with Freeney and company and its always good to have a big guy to throw it at in those sitchyations.

You are right this is a tough decision....never easy to bench arguably the number 2 TE in the league. The reason I like LJ over Shockey is McNabb has LJ worked into his gameplan, he is comfortable using him over the past couple seasons and may rely the most on him to come through in the clutch. No question Stallworth and Brown will get their looks, but Stallworth is going to take a little time before he is treated like a true number one receiver. Brown will get some looks but nothing to the extent where he will be stealing LJ's attempts.
Shockey is playing against a tough D and a very tough team, he has big play potential but LJ should be McNabb's primary target. As hard as it is I would take LJ as a number 1 option against Houston as opposed to Shockey #2 option against Indy. |

I think Shockey is a superior football player over LJ. However, with the emergence of Jacobs and a totally healthy WR corps, the Giants possess plenty of options, especially in the red zone. Plus I might add that Shockey is listed on the ijury report with a bum ankle. It's only minor but it's there.
I might have to side with LJ on this one. A Tight End in an offense with as few proven weapons as Philly usually does well. Plus Houston is a sweet matchup.
