Tight End in Fantasy Rosters

This may be me, but having a TE in most Fantasy Football rosters, just seems like a waste. Unless you pick up one of the top 4 or 5 TE's, you are not going to see many points from them. Most teams seem to just use the TE for blocking, and not for scoring.....

No, the TE position is extraordinarily deep this year with staples such as Gates, Shockey, Gonzo and Heap obviously but also with the emergence of guys like LJ Smith, McMichael with Culpepper, the first real appearance of Kellen Winslow Jr and exciting rookie Vernon Davis. Not to mention guys who were on the "2nd tier" last year that keep improving, Crumpler, Witten, etc. Also another year of Cooley and Heath Miller.

I don't see your concern.

The TE spot was a waste up until this season.

True. Lots of good ones this year.

True, there are more good TE's this year, but if you are in a 12 team league, and I don't get one of the top 5 or 6 players, most are going to be whimpering when the draft is over. I did notice however, that the TE's were being drafted sooner this year, in each of my drafts......

While he's solid I dont know if I would look to Witten for my fantasy pick. The Cowboys have Owens and Glenn at WR which likely limits the touches he sees, on top of this it looks like they'll be using a 2 tight end set so Fasano may see a few of those touches as well. Still a solid player, but not one I'd grab for fantasy purposes.

Valid points...but he's so good at finding open space and being a safety valve for an immobile guy like Bledsoe that I still think he'll have a season similar to last year's even with the addition of Owens.
