Is Phillip Rivers the next Tom brady or JP Lossman?

One of those had a pretty good first starting season for a good team, the other is god awful and brought a pretty good team down the tubes... I am sure you can figure out which is which. So which one do you think Rivers will resemble. He looked ok the other day.

I'd say its a little early to be writing off Losman. Also, the Chargers have a much better team then the Bills did last year outside of the QB position.

I have high (unrealistic?) expectations for Rivers. I see him being more like carson palmer taking over for kitna than either of the guys you mentioned.

He had a solid pre-seson game and he seems to be primed to step up. He had a great college career and I think he can step in and make the jump after sitting for a couple years behind brees.

I'm not sure I saw much out of Losman to really get excited about last year, or this year thus far. When your in QB controversy with Kelly Holcomb, it cant' be that encouraging.

It bothers me that people are ridiculously lenient with Eli and Rivers, but seem to write off Losman easily.

His first season's stats as the starter are comparable to Eli's were, and better than Eli's in certain categories. Give him time, maybe he'll evolve.

He was a first rounder for a reason.

Booyah. I can never understand why people give up on young players after a season or so. If he's like that 2 years from now, he had his chance and move on.

If you remember the bills had the top defense in 2004 and an offense with mcgahee, moulds, and evans doesnt sound so bad. Lossman just stunk the joint up and made them seem like a very bad team, not that they had any better options as they proved.

Also the difference between Eli first year and Lossmans was that it was actually Eli's rookie season, Lossman had a year to learn and he was still awful. It appears that he won the job this year again so I guess we will see how good he really is.

First off, Losman's rookie year was negated because he was injured. He got hurt in Camp, and that was it. To say that Losman "Stunk up the joint" is just a sign of someone who didn't get to see the games. The offensive line, if you could call it that, was beyond abysmal.

Peyton Manning would have gotten eaten alive behind last years Bills O-Line if he were our QB, and one could argue that Mike Vick wouldn't have been safe. It was brutal. If Losman gets put behind an existent, right below average line, like I think he'll get this year, he should show some positive signs.

Enough to warrant him as a #1 for us, mainly to see what he's got to offer.

like i said somewhere else... rivers has more capable targets this year so thats why i give him the edge for now. as far as talent goes ill have to see them both a lot more this season to fairly evaluate that

Neither, but it doesn't hurt that he has LT playing with him. If a D tries to load the box, single coverage all night long.

Not only did the Bills o-line stink last year, their coaching staff was god-awful. Mularkey was too tricky. McGahee hated that offense as he was not used enough. There was a poison in the lockeroom.

As for defense, they lost a monster starting tackle. They lost Spikes for the season early on. Milloy was older than Moulds.

We will see what Losman can do this year. You can't judge yet. I would say that even the best typically do not come out and play like Brady in they first year starting. My guess is that Rivers comes out somewhere in the middle. pretty good for a first year. not great.
