Tennessee and Oregon surprised me the most. Though Cal did not look like the team everyone says they are, and Stanford's defense was awful. More tests next week. Oregon @ Fresno State.

A lot of people are talking about how Ohio State, USC, and Notre Dame have very good shots at the national championship, along with Michigan and Texas not too far behind. Miami hasn't been considered a legit NC worthy team this season so I pick them as my darkhorse.

Louisville HAD a great shot at doing well this season but since Michael Bush was hurt, I'm not quite sure. With Bush, I was thinking 11-1. Without Bush, I'm thinking 9-3. Brohm is a good QB but Bush was their true workhorse.

I'll be honest, I didn't think Oregon would dominate Stanford like they did. Herbstreit picked the Cardinal to beat us and we weren't favored by much. I was definitely surprised how well we played. I didn't think we'd run the ball nearly that well. That said, I really should wait til after the next five games to say I am truly impressed (Fresno State, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Cal, UCLA).

My darkhorse is Pitt. Wannstedt will right the ship and they have the recruits and schedule to surprise. All tough games at home, so last two weeks will decide their fate if they can get past Rutgers.

so much for just a dark horse..........looks more like a pitch black horse now!lol Pittsburgh played like they can in the 1st quarter, took a 10-0 lead which easily could have been 14. Palko can't do it alone, and they have to develop the running game. Stanton picked them apart because they couldn't key on the pass. Judging from the ND/Mich. game, he might get to continue picking apart defenses next week!
