New Preseason Poll

I saw this poll at Sportprojections.com I kind of agree that West Virginia might have the correct schedule to put them into the national championship game. I doubt they're the second best team but the competition might get them in the BCS championship.

Not bad at all. Certainly as logical as any other that I have seen. I would question Ohio State that low. They have 8 cupcakes to start the year and Wisconsin at home. I do not see them losing more than 2 games. As the article said, the Big 10 is down this year, and they did not exactly set the NCAA on fire last year, especially in bowl games.

That seems a little high for Wisconsin. I think USC is clearly the best team in football. I think they could probably even beat the Browns if they played this season. What do you guys think of these College Football Rankings?

Thats probably the best poll i have seen yet. WVU deserves to be ranked either #2 or #3 also i like seeing Cal and Tennessee in the top 10 here. I still dont get why Oklahoma is anywhere around the top 10. I'd move Texas up up and drop the Sooners back down quite a bit. Auburn at #10 is way to high as well. Overall i think thats a great poll.

The poll

West Virginia will have a good offense but their defense will be a liability. Oklahoma has one heck of a squad, they just need to find a quarterback, the roster is stocked with talent. Keep an eye on OL George Robinson from Oklahoma, only a sophomore but probably a 1st round draft pick in the 2009 or 2010 NFL Draft.

don't like it when Michigan is that high, they always screw up an early game against someone they shouldn't

does anyone know WVU's schedule? I think they get LOU at home, but what other big OOC games do they play, if any?

correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't they lose to USF at home last year?

Basically West Virginia plays Cream Puffs for their OOC schedule this year. If any game could be considered competitive, it would be their trip to Maryland, who is not considered a Top 50 team by many, and certainly not a Top 25 team by anyone. They do play Louisville at home, but travel to South Florida, Rutgers, and Cincy. And yes, they did lose to USF at home last year. 24-19.

i honestly dont agree with either of those polls except USC at one. Michigan is good but top 3 on both polls? They havent earned that kind of rank atleast in my eyes and i'm a michigan guy. I think Wisconsin has a better chance of playing in the NC game than West Virginia just because playing in the Big 10 carries more weight than the Big East and i think they are a better team. I dont know how Oklahoma can be higher than Texas on any poll. If it wasn't for injuries Texas would be playing in the Fiesta Bowl not Oklahoma. Texas has better receivers better QB and Oklahoma lost AP that is devastating.

Texas has no excuses for last year. They scored 42 points and still lost a game. Then they gave up 12 points at home and lost another game. Texas is not nearly as good as they want to believe they are, nor is any Big 12 team.

Colt McCoy doesn't get hurt against K-State = Fiesta Bowl.

A very weak excuse for a typical Big 12 team last year. No one scores 42 points and loses. Your D was crap in that game and that is why you lost. What was your excuse for the A&M debacle? Between Dallas and Texas, I've never seen so much crying by fans of two teams that simply do not have enough talent to compete with the elite of Pro and College Football. You think one year makes you good? You have a long ways to go. When you play in five BCS games in a row, then talk to me. Until then, stop with the excuses.

well really MS is right. Colt is better than whoever the backup is he could have put more points on the board. ant the reason USC was in 5 BCS bowls in a row is cause until last year the Pac-10 was weak other than Cal. Texas would make 5 BCS games in a row if they were in the Pac-10

Dude i realize your a little younger than most here. If you look at USC's non con scheduling every year it includes the Big 12, SEC, Independent big boys. USC generally anialates their non con foes. It's almost always the in conference games that push USC (See Oregon State, Washington Washington State) last year. Also last year was a serious down year for the Pac 10 saying that the conference was weak until Cal last year could not be further from the truth.

I agree with you, Texas has tons of talent but except for when Vince Young went off on USC a few years ago, they under achieve year after year.

To add on to the above mentioned point, USC has not lost a non-conference game since 2002 except the Texas Bowl game. Their victories include wins over Auburn, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, Nebraska, Michigan, Oklahoma, and a 5 game winning streak against Notre Dame. There is no team in the country that has played a tougher non-con schedule than USC. There is no team in the country that has had the run that USC has had in the past 5 years. No team comes close. As far as the rest of the conference is concerned, UCLA lost 2 games in 2005 and pounded Oklahoma. Oregon also lost 2 games in 2005. Cal ripped A&M last year and lost 2 games in 2004. Even lowly Washington State only lost 2 games in 2001 and 2002. So for all of you Pac 10 haters out there, it's time to wake up and smell the coffee. Jealousy will get you nowheres except to be laughed at in this forum.
