best football state

ESPN.com: SPORTSNATION - Overall state football rankings

isnt it obvious who number 1 is? let me give you a hint, a Team called the Longhorns resides there, and they didnt even take HS ball into account.

I wouldn't disagree with 1, 2, 3 or 4, i just have them in a different order.

Nevada ahead of Hawaii and Utah is a joke.

it's always been Texas first, Florida second and California third....the rest are all so far behind it doesn't even matter

Cleveland Browns

wow, for once i cant disagree with that, except i would have ohio over pa... the cowboys really boosts Texas's rating a little.... Not trying to be a dick, just asking an honest question... That site has the state of texas with 6 NC's, how many were UT??? And if SEC is out there reding this, go to this link, it states ohio at #5 with 7 NC's like we said and you argued a losing cause... No other ohio team won a NC so that puts OSU at 7... Congrats to texas on being the #1 state for football, if the browns would get thier heads out of thier asses we would be higher, but i cant argue the Cowboys history even though i hate them...

The National Championships are wrong for Ohio. What about all the D-3 titles Mt. Union has won, and five titles Tressel won at then D1AA Youngstown State. If you really want to look at this more clearly look at the rosters over the next two weeks. Almost every single college will have a kid from Texas, Cal, Florida and yes Ohio. Not to many from PA. Footbal in Pa is good in the East and West but up the middle is a waste land.

Good points, wags, these rankings don't take alot of things into consideration as wags mentioned they fail to recognize any College ball thats not D1. If you look closely at their criteria and examine it, it makes no sense heres an example. Texas 6 NC's, 6, Heismans and 5 superbowls, their 1,141 high schools had 262 D1 recruits, earning them the #1 ranking according to ESPN. California has 8 NC's, 9 Heismans, 8 Superbowls their 1,030 high schools had 261 D1 recruits earning them 2nd. Tell me that is'nt some fuzzy math.

lol that is fuzzy , i don't put too much stock into this mess, it's best judged on what state produces the best pro players....IMO

this ranking is totally flawed when you think about it ...if it's all about State pride......how do you count College Championships and NFL Championships when the talent on the field comes from all over the country.....this is to hard to gauge, the only solid argument you have is High School and that's it....at least that's what me and my friends use

Jaytrajik, i could'nt possibly agree more. This is fun to look at but lacks any real merit. This is a debate that will continue long after all of us are dead and gone.
