It maybe to early to tell, but at this point i think Thad Matta and his Buckeye sqaud are as talented as anybody in the nation. Ohio State is rollin without their all world phenom Greg Odin, just wait until he gets in that line up. As for football i dont see anyone beating the Buckeyes in the NC.

We'll see what kind of Basketball team OSU has after their trips to play North Carolina and last year's champs Florida...They got defeated last year in the second round of the Tourney to the Georgetown Hoyas(The team that the Oregon Ducks face on Nov 29th in D.C.)...
As for the football team...OSU looks like they are capable of winning the N.C...However...everyone knows that any Top-5 team has the ability of beating any other Top-5 team on any given Saturday if the cards fall right...

OregonDucksFan, how good do you think we will be this year? Porter, AB, Malik, Marty, Champ, and Brice should all have big seasons. The lack of big men is gonna hurt us, however i think we can run with anyone in the country. I think we should go small like we did with Jones/Jackson/Ridnour what are your thoughts?
Sorry to get of track but i have a feeling this is gonna be the only thread where college b-ball is gonna be discussed. Last edited by Daddy Duck : 11-22-2006 at 06:58 PM. |

I wish we still had F. Jones...That guy was freakin' awesome!!!... I agree that the athleticism of the team is definitely there as far as running with any team in the nation...I think Ernie is trying to get a "feel" of how the smaller line-up is gonna match-up...With Ray as our only true center...I too have concern as to how the Ducks are gonna fare against teams that boast a larger inside-game... My main concern is chemistry and confidence...I thought they looked like the Keystone cops against Rice last Monday...I know it was the first road-game...But they looked horrible and their Offensive numbers showed that...Steals...forced turn-overs and aggressive defense kept them in that game...Of course the last 1:30 was pretty SWEET!!! I'm hoping for consistency with the Ducks this year...After so many close losses last year...Perhaps the extra conditioning will get them over the top...Having a healthy Malik back in the line-up will also add some "juice"... I'm excited to see how they play in a big road game like Georgetown... They have the potential to compete for the PAC-10 title this year...Of course they have to get through the likes of UCLA and Arizona like most any year in the PAC-10... I hope we at least get a NCAA tourney bid...for if we don't...I suspect this may be Ernie Kent's last year coaching the Ducks...

It's gonna be awful tough for anybody to beat Florida this year. Returning all five starters is pretty amazing for a defending champ in NCAA Hoops.
We should start up a college basketball board!!! |

How about all the Bucknuts squads? The womens team is also going to contend for a title ranked at number 6 or 7... I thin OSU has more of a chance to pull of the double Championship than florida does... Just because OSU will win Football... Just watch and see... OSU has 4 tough out of conferance road games against UNC, Florida, Tennessee, and Cincy... so that Florida game well have Oden for im pretty sure, will be an interesting game and apotential 1 vrs. 2 game as well, so its going to be a fun basketball season as well...
