Penn State: How many wins this year?

PSU is going to have some tough games this season (Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, just to name a few...).

I think they will finish 9-3. 2 losses would be amazing with their tough schedule but I think they will finish with 3. Facing Ohio State at home is going to be extremely hard for the team to win and many are already predicting a Penn State loss. ND at home will be tough as well...

What do you guys think?

8-4 with losses to ND, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio State.

8-4 is a bit generous. I think they'll go 7-5 maybe even 6-6. I think last year was a complete fluke. There's no way they're going to do as well this year. I'm picking losses against ND, Michigan, OSU, Iowa, maybe even Michigan State and Wisconsin.

That's harsh. Penn State was one completion to Mario Manningham away from a perfect 12-0 season, and you expect them to go 7-5 or 6-6? (As a Michigan fan, the Manningham completion with no time left on the clock was one of lone bright spots from last season, so I like to bring it up whenever I can )

True - Penn State has a tough schedule ahead of them, and if they can manage one win versus Notre Dame, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio State, they'll be lucky. If I had to pick, I'd put my money on 8-4, but I guess a lot of it depends on how their freshman quarterback will fit into the lineup as a replacement for graduating Michael Robinson.

I think they're going to have a difficult time filling Robinson's shoes. He established himself as a leader and made a lot great plays last year. Not saying it's impossible, but I'm thinking the freshman is not going to step up and perform anywhere near Robinson's level.

I will say 7-5, since they do have many difficult games ahead. They have a few key players which will be helpful, but I agree with fetznjtown and think they will have a hard time compensating for the loss of Robinson.

8-4 is a good bet. They are still good and JoePa has a few more successful years left in him.

Sounds reasonable. I think the fact that PSU plays Michigan and Ohio State in the same year is going to be tough. I can see them beating Notre Dame (overrated hype machine with a crappy D) but not UofM and OSU...

you're correct that the loss of Robinson is going to really hurt...BUT, Morelli is a MUCH better passer than Robinson. I'd look for a pretty good passing attack with Derrick Williams and Deon Butler as WR's. The Defense will still be pretty staunchy.

I see losses to Ohio State and Notre Dame...maybe to Iowa, but this team has a great chance to get 9 wins

I agree with this. Their defense will still be decent so they'll be in a lot of games.

Am I missing something here? you guys don't play Iowa this year. not that you'd want to cause they've had your number the past few years. With 4/5ths of your OL new, plus a new QB, TE on offense. also 3/4ths of your DL and an entirely new secondary. penn state is lookin at anywhere from a 8-4 to 6-6 season.

their offense looks incredible, the running game will get on track once the new O-line gets more experience with each other. the defense looks a bit shakier than at least I originally thought. Posluszny is a great anchor, but their secondary looked attrocious against Akron. It scares me to think of what Brady Quinn might be able to do against them. that being said, if Joe Pa tightens up the D and Hunt gets more productive running, this could be a REALLY dangerous team that vitually no one (except me and Fear Posluszny ) saw coming
