Why is the Big East always considered weak?

I have always seen on other message boards and even this year with Cincy going undefeated into their bowl game all I hear is that the Big East is the weakest AQ conference... why do you guys think they are?

I dont believe it. Cincys beating against Florida just brought us down further. Teams like WVU,Pitt, and RU could probably take on some bigger schools. Cincy has just began to florish bringing the Spread offense to the big east, that was why they were successful. Another thing is the Big East is a more pro style conference. As you see other pro style offense confrences are begining to fall of the map like the Big 10 and the ACC. Most Big East teams are talented and usually that means nobody gets that much publicity without a undeafeted record. If you notice the Big East always has a good bowl game record as a conference.

They just don't have the money to pay kids to play for them like some of the other semi-pro programs in the NCAA *** Cough! Cough! Bama!*** Cough! Cough! Texas!*** It's all about presitge as well, there simply isn't enough to get kids playing for these schools... Like if you're decent and Bama, Florida, Texas, Penn State, want you, are you going to sign up with ANY of the teams in this devision? Not likely...

The Big East gets many big names. But they need to work on further bettering their players. The best schools in the Big East turn 2 star recuits into stars. Lets not forget big schools always stealing the talented coaches for our conference.

It's 6 of one, half dozen of the other... At the NCAA level, it's all about mental ability, more so then at highschool. They may get physical phenoms, but they don't get the football mental AND physical phenoms. And when coupled with the other issue you brought up with the coaches, you now have "lesser" coaches trying to teach lesser athelets and the end results are Bama vs. a bunch of super human mongaloids. That a bit harsh, I know, BUT the programs in the Big East loose one senior and their game crumbles more so then Texas who apparently doesn't ever have ANY really bad players... Case in point Notre Dame, next year, they're going to be a mess and that's not just because of the coach leaving, but also because of Claussen. The Bear Cats, same thing... Or Rutgers this year compared to last years team with Rice...

The bottom line is that the talent goes to others "bigger" schools in other "big" confrences, if it's coach or player talent...

I agree. This big conferences has to stop paying players and stealing coaches!!
