Kansas City Chiefs QB Scare in Kansas City

Talk about one thing a team doesn't want to see in week one, their QB being taken off the field on a stretcher.........

I live close enough to K.C. to get their news, and from what I have heard he is OK, but they are not sure when he will be back on the field. It's a scary thing to hear though, when a player does not even remember what happened to them, due to a blow to the head.......

It didn't look as bad full speed, but it was still a cheap shot. He didn't pull up when he saw green slide and he went for the head.

There needs to be a suspension.

I heard that he was on the field for over 10 minutes on the Panther's broadcast, any truth to that?

Yeah that is some scary stuff. I hope he is ok most importantly. I also think his team wants him to be OK because without him out there it will be a very very long year....

I really didn't pay attention to the amount of time he was on the field, but it was for quite a while. The hit was pretty intense, and you could tell he was out, before the play was even over.....

I agree something should be done, it was a very cheap hit, that should not have happened. I would think that a heafty fine, might do the trick, if a suspension is not in order......

Has anyone heard the latest on his condition? This sucks for the first game. Well really anytime, but even worse when it's the first game.

A hefty fine...?

These are multi millionaires we are talking about - a fine is like a tap on the wrist to them.

Suspend him for at least 3 games I say.

His status is that he is out minimum 2-3 weeks. He may come back in 3 but with that type of concussion there is no idea how he will recover. He was totally knocked out and just got out of the hospital 2 days ago. Serious hit and I am very surprised that the NFL said the D-back was trying to twist his body to get out of the way of hitting him. Are you kidding me?? It looked like a solid shot and Green head smacking the turf was wicked. Chief fans had better be glad they don't play on the astroturf.

The league office reviewed the play and agreed on Wednesday, absolving Geathers. A league official said the play "was unfortunate and has drawn much commentary, but it is not a foul." How about that one? That was an obviously bad call, and the league official agrees with it.

I can't believe the line on the KC Denver game because of Huard starting... I mean its a big loss, but I wouldn't take Denver as an 11-point favorite.

It's not just the fact that Green it out this week, it has to do with how the Broncos play at home. That, and the fact they are going to still be a little upset about last week's loss.....

I can see it. KC is already suspect on offense except for Larry Johnson. With no QB, they are going to have a hard time moving the ball.

IMO, this falls int othe "cheap but not illegal" category. Like the Sapp hit a few years ago.

Geathers was going for the big hit on the QB. That is allowed. While going for the hit, Kennison shoved him from behind. That pretty much ensured Geathers was going to hit Green. Any chance of Geathers pulling back was lost when Kennison shoved him forward. Green didn't slide until he was a few feet away. I am not blaming the victim here, but if you are going to slide to avoid a hit, slide before the player is already lunging to get you. Had Green ran normally, he would have been hit in the chest and not the head. The reason his head was exposed is he dropped down. More so, Green didn't slide until Geathers was already pushed. By that time, it was too late. The hit was already on it's way, it was just a question of where contact was going to be made.

You had three things combining for that hit:
1) Geathers wanting to cream Green (legal)
2) Green sliding late
3) Kennison shoving Geathers from behind

NO, green went for the extra yard and took that risk, he started to slide while he was in full motion and then the hit happened. no need for a suspension, it was a awful but clean hit.
