Cincinnati Bengals Cincy Cuts Willie Anderson and Rudi Johnson

As per NFL.com

Will be interesting too see where they wind up, particularly Johnson.

Didn't even want to report this on the site when I heard yesterday....Why cut Rudi Johnson, a top tier RB is he gets back to form, and Willie Anderson (a guy who made the pro bowl just a season earlier, but was sidelined by injury last year)....Both are great players, and we're going to cut them...

Johnson is hurt. He is the bruising high-contact type with a short shelf life.

When the wheels come off, it is dramatic. See: Jamal Anderson.

He might buck the odds and come back to be an effective starter, but history indicates that he is done. His most likely role going forward would be as a back-up/split timer who kills the clock and works the goalline. Perhaps a good fit to compliment Westbrook.

Anderson was too expensive too keep around if he wasn't going to be healthy. While he may remain an effective starter, he wasnt' worth the price tag and the Bengals tagged Andrews already. I bet he ends up on another team.

In other news, they also cut Brooks. He was supposed to be their up-and-coming LB (along with the also-cut Thurmen). O'Neal is gone too.

At this point, I see the Bengals struggling to get even 6 wins. They really look to be a mess.

ypu yup... Things are up in the air over there and guessing from what I think I heard somewhere, aren't both TJ and CJ done next year as far as contracts are concerned? Or very near then? I'm sure that TJ's on the verge and who knows what Chad Ocho Cinco's gonna do... I love that! It never gets old. Carson could end up looking like Dan the Man in Miami towards the end of his career, great abiltiy and little talent around him to assist in showing it off...

Rudi may fit well in a system like the Jets, Eagles, or someplace where they need someone with the ability to catch the ball out of the back...

I agree about "when the wheels come off..." though. Also see Natron Means or Iron Head Hayward! Or more recently Preist Holmes and Sean Alexander.

Rudi has ended up in Detroit, and in the center of a baggage theft controversy, whic nothing has happened with Willie Anderson. IMHO the Bengals should have done the classy thing and let Willie retire with them, he's a solid player who has put in 13 years on a consistant sub-.500 team. We'll see what happens I hope he goes somewhere and has a chance at a ring, Patriots anyone?
