In the Plain Dealer on Friday, Anderson was asked about the Ravens being interested in him, and he got a big smile. They're going to run the same offense he has here, and he still is friends with a lot of guys on that team. He'd love to go back there to be the starter. The Ravens didn't waive him, they just tried to hide him on their practice squad.

Schaub went for a package that included a top-10 pick... and he had done dick relative to Anderson. Now, that was part of a package (that included a 1st round pick). I think that Anderson and a pick (late 1st or early 2nd; future 1st) could net you the 6th overall though. Especially from a "win now" team like the Ravens who are in dire need of a QB.

It all depends on how high the Browns tender Anderson. If they do the highest which is a 1st and a 3rd I don't see the Ravens trying to sign him, might as well just draft Ryan out of BC w/ the 6th. I agree that there may be a win now mentality but with a new coach in place I don't see that working out, must build for the future. IMO the Ravens should trade away some of their top defensive players for the value they still hold now, and rebuild from the ground up. I know it seems crazy, but with a new coach just rebuild. That means get rid of Reed, Lewis, etc. Although they are amazing right now, they are the remnants of the old Super Bowl team, just rebuild young, new and fast now and in 3-4 years you could see some amazing return. If you can get a top pick for Reed you could possibly land Ryan and plus DMac in the first round, a foundation for your team for the next decade. If I were GM that's what I would do, may piss off many of the fans, but in the long run your better off for it.

Look at the Schaub situation. The Falcons also tendered him, but no team make an offer to Schaub. Instead, they went directly to the Falcons to talk trade. Really, the 1st and the 3rd is the starting point. |
