Chad Fined 20 000$ for Bribe Joke

Over reaction by the league? Perhaps, or is it simply something done in light of recent accusations and very bad calls made by officials this, and last year? Who know, but one thing is for certain, instead of letting this thing die, the league will in fact draw more attention to this by placing such a large, and largly viewed as excessive fine, for something that was clearly a joke... Like you could buy an NFL ref for a reply for only a dollar... The Steelers and Pats have to pay millions... Come on NFL, know your prices. Just one in a line of terrible calls made by the NFL commish, at least he didn't destroy the evidence this time.

I think he got fined because he said bribe in his post game news conference.

The commish fining him for this questions the integrity of the league more than the act itself. By him reacting so huge to this, it shows that he's possibly trying to hide something that we all know goes on in the underbelly of the league.

I don't know. I'm a big Ochocinco fan and I actually root for him and enjoy his touchdown celebrations. That being said, I think this was the right choice. Remember, there's no difference between 10 and 20 thousand dollars to Chad.

F*** 'em if they can't take a joke!!!

Being fined $20K for having a sense of humor... WTF is up with the NFL?

I laughed when I saw the "$1 bribe" ... I KNEW it was a joke... I would imagine that anyone with half a brain knew it was a joke...
Hell... He was smiling & laughing when he did it.

This is just plain nuts! Political correctness has gone too far!

$20,000 for a bribe and $250,000 for giving the bird. I really need to know how the NFL calculates these things. Is there like a manual or something?

Ha. It's a valid question. You have to believe it's more of a "dart board" thing, no?

LOL

Exactly.

I hope the fines end up going to charity. If not that's pretty ****ty of the NFL IMO.

Chad Ochocinco is probably one of my favorite players in the NFL. Sure he talks a lot but its different than TO's talk. TO constantly complains about not getting the ball, etc.

Sure, Chad had his moments last year but thats not uncommon for a star WR in the NFL. Most of Chad's antics are stunts like this one. Which are funny and lightens the mood from the rather "No Fun League". The guys knows when to be serious and bring it on the field and his numbers show that. Keep fining him, hes gonna keep being Chad, and I have no problem with it.

Normally I have no problem with it except for the fact that stunts like this starts the ball rolling for other players wanting to be on the highlight show. Sooner or later it becomes a sideshow and I can just see it getting to be like watching the WWE or something where fans are just anticipating their favorite player to do something outrageous.

Though I enjoy humor as much as anyone I want football to remain football. How do you think Steelers or Raiders of old would have handled this guy if he did this kind of stuff? Buried him in the dirt probably. Then again, he's probably no different than the flashy Joe Namath I guess.

I dunno.

People like crazy things and people are drawn to it for some reason. If those kinds of actions distract the team from winning it's a stupid thing to do.

If not go for it.

I have to admit though, when Moss pretended to pull down his pants in Green Bay and rub his tight little ass against the Packers goal post that was a classic moment.

I think it's going to get worse before it gets better IMO.

What's $15,000 to these guys?
