Found it... From Nov, 2nd 2002...
Gannon, who is 36, turned in arguably the performance of the season, completing 34 of 38 passes for 352 yards and 3 touchdowns. At one point, Gannon hit on 21 straight completions, breaking the single-game record of 20 set by Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson against Houston on Jan. 2, 1983 (Joe Montana holds the record for 22 consecutive passes over the span of two games in 1987). |

His "restricted" rating would be 131.57. This is because of his yards per attempt was lower.

His stats were as follows...
23 /28, 236yds= 82.1% completion,8.43 ypa,and 6 touchdowns. This is the rating i had mentioned in the original posting. agains, its just above 177 unrestricted. Thanks for the post Goose, keep them coming. |

Ok this one might beat it, but I had to go WAY back. I remember my Grandfather telling me about the best QB he remembered... Sid Luckman of the Bears was dominant back in the day. So I googled him and found a game from Novemeber 1943 in which we went 23 for 30 for 443 yards and 7 touchdowns. 82% completion ratio and 14.77 yards per attempt. What's that end up at?
By the way when you google him a couple of links that say "Greatest game ever played" come up, of course he was way before my time but I guess he was the first great arm of the NFL. |

what an amazing stat list in that game. And an incredible 205.3 rating on the unrestricted scale. That easily puts him in a close 2nd to Brady in the single game performance. that was Sid Luckman in Nov. 1943! Go Bears, lol. and the 7 touchdowns there was an all-time single game record, i know that.
Keep it coming GOOSE P.S.: whomever posted about rich gannon's record setting game, his rating was just above 140. REspectable. |

Well personally I see that as a better game than what Brady had....almost a 100 yards more and one more TD.
Are you talking strictly "rating that doesn't matter" wise? lol.

Wow, you are just so funny aren't you Roy.
Well, for those who are curious, its all about efficiency per attempt in the rating system. So i do agree that the ~~game performance~~ back in 1943 ~~WAS BETTER~~, since he had the extra TD (i don't car about yards, because Brees threw for 500 yds with N.O. one game and they lost so...). However, based on the rating one has to admit that Brady's EFFICIENCY was the highest anyone has ever observed in an NFL game, as far as we can tell. Anyways, Thanks a lot for the stats and discussion. "long days and happy nights" |

I don't think I care much about his rating that game, mainly because of the fact that he was playing against a Dolphins team, which to date is still winless. Secondly the guy doesn't deserve all the credit, because he has receivers like Moss, Welker, and Stallworth. If Romo had a complement of receivers like that i'm sure he would blow away those numbers. Brady wasn't this good last season, but he is this season and I give credit for that not to him but to the new additions on the team.

If you've coached in the NFL for 8 years with any team, you have probably beaten each team at least once. It's not an amazing stat.
