The 2007 New England Patriots Season Thread
Pre-Season Schedule Week 1: @Tampa Bay L 13-10 Week 2: Tennessee L 27-24 Week 3: @Carolina W 24-7 Week 4: New York Giants Regular Season Schedule Week 1: @New York Jets Week 2: San Diego Week 3: Buffalo Week 4: @Cincinnati Week 5: Cleveland Week 6: @Dallas Week 7: @Miami Week 8: Washington Week 9: @Indianapolis Week 10: BYE Week 11: @Buffalo Week 12: Philadelphia Week 13: @Baltimore Week 14: Pittsburgh Week 15: New York Jets Week 16: Miami Week 17: @New York Giants The last time we saw the Pats, they had blown an 18 point lead and yet still came withing one minute of advancing to another Super Bowl. When you combine both the draft and off-season moves they have made, are they they team to beat this season ? Here are a few things I am going to look for as the season goes.... #1 The Charecter issues...The Pats have always prided themselves on locker room chemistry and on field Harmony, yet the drafting of Miami saftey Brandon Merriweather and the trade for Randy Mosss make me wonder. Will they play nice ? #2 Who will prove to be the best new addition, will it be Adalius Thomas or Randy Moss ? #3 With Corey Dillion gone, will Laurence Maroney be able to carry the team at RB in just his 2nd season ? #4 If CB Asante Samuel does indeed hold out, how much will it affect the defense ? #5 What if Tom Brady goes down, can Matt Cassel lead the team ? The Patriots open the pre-season on August 10th, 2007 Last edited by Transplanted Caper : 08-29-2007 at 08:36 PM. Reason: Edited for Copyright Reasons |

Adalius Thomas should be a stud as long as he stays healthy. I remember when the Pats signed Colvin a couple years ago and I was excited how Belichick was going to use his new athletic linebacker, and he went down with an injury. But Thomas will be scary next to Bruschi and Colvin. An honest prediction for Thomas this year is that he will have a career year in sacks if healthy. That nasty line of Seymour-Wilfork-Warren is going to cause so many double teams that holes will be huge!

New England will cruise in this nothing division. Whether they are good enough to challenge Indy and San Diego is another story. Their offense takes a back seat to both of those teams, so it would be up to the D.

1. They will play nice or not at all. BB would sit Moss quicker than stink on a monkey!
2. Thomas is the stud addition. Face it - "D" is the Patriots main game, but I expect big things from a new improved Moss. 3. Maroney is a friggin horse! He'll be running over LB's like mad this year! 4. Well, Asante's all but back now. He's a pro. He wasn't home sipping margueritas. He'll be ready. 5. No. If Brady goes down, kiss the season goodbye. Week 1 prediction: Pats 27, Jets 10 |

Game #1 Pats 38 Jets 14
Quick take: Moss' makes impressive debut NFL.com It was over when ... Patriots QB Tom Brady connected with new friend Randy Moss on a 51-yard play-action touchdown pass to give the Patriots a 28-7 lead in the third quarter. Moss appeared to show no ill effects from a hamstring injury that held him out of most of the preseason. Here's the rest... Barring injuries nobody will stop this team from going all of the way. With Tom Brady at the helm and Belichick callign the shots they outclass every team in the league.
