how do you propose the tournament teams be determined?
- do you send a single representative for each conference only, the conference champ?
- how many eligible conferences will there be, and what would be the criteria for a qualified conference?
- the championship tournament would take weeks. football isn't as forgiving on the body as basketball, so the teams would need ample recuperating times.
- with the extended seasons, you'd run into all kinds of logistical issues with players. for one thing, they're still students at colleges and universities. the kids need time to study, and attended classes. we all know football players miss enough class as it is. think of how the rest of the students, alums, and faculties would feel about athletes still receiving their degrees with minimal academic investment? secondly, where would the players stay around campus during the breaks? that wouldn't be a problem for the ones who have off-campus housing, but what about the ones who stay in dorms? are you going to pay staff extra money to stay over the breaks too? i'm sure not all schools could afford that.
