Here is an article about the top teams in the country:
http://ssfootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=567125

Here are the number of teams and ranking from the states included in the poll:
State - Rankings - Total
California - 5,14,18,26,35,40 - 6
Florida - 1,16,23,34 - 4
Ohio - 4,12,29 - 3
Texas - 3,10,21,44 - 4

Only one other state had 3 teams but none of the 3 were ranked higher then 31.

I think Ohio belongs in the conversation with the other three but after those 4 I would say there is a dropoff.
